About Natural Stone

Natural Stone is a general term used to describe many of the naturally occurring stones mined from the earth, including Marble, Granite, Quartzite, Travertine, Onyx and Limestone

The cost of any stone project is entirely dependent on the scope of works. However, if you require a specialised cutting job, have a complex design or require a large amount of stone, natural stone will likely be dearer as it requires a higher level of skilled workmanship and care to manufacture the benchtop. We do, however, have a wide range of colours and we can provide a cost-effective alternative to meet your budget if you so desire.

We will seal your natural stone bench top during production and installation. It is recommended you reseal your stone within 6 months of installation and annually thereafter. However, how often you will need to seal your natural stone will depend on how often you use your benchtop and the brand of sealer that you select.

All natural stones will perform slightly differently depending on what family of stone they belong to. Natural stone performs well in kitchens, but you should factor what kind of use/how much use your kitchen gets when selecting which type of stone to use. Natural stone is also great for outdoor applications, fireplaces, vanities, staircases and more.

Natural stone is porous, and thus will need to be regularly sealed to avoid excess spillage penetration and to prevent damage. Marble is more porous than granite, however, some stones are easier to maintain in certain applications or areas of the home. No stone is chip proof, so a reasonable amount of care should be taken with any stone top to prevent chips and scratches. Please give us a call for more information on the maintenance of natural stone, as it differs depending on the type of stone and application.

As part of our order process, should you select a natural stone for your project, we will recommend you view the slab either at our suppliers warehouse or in our factory prior to production.
