Granite facts:
Granite is known as an igneous rock, and it originates from the crystallizing of molten magma as it cools beneath the surface of the earth.
The English word “granite” comes from the Latin word “granum”, which actually means “grain”. Granite got its name from its granular texture. Feldspar, mica, and quartz are the three main minerals which are easily recognized in granite.
The surface appearance of granite varies to a great extent according to the colour and density of these minerals, along with variations in cooling time.
These differences depend largely on where in the world the granite is quarried from.
And again because it is an igneous rock, these means it is homogeneous in its composition unlike sedimentary rocks which are made up of different layers or beds. This aspect of granite makes it one of the strongest, hardest, and most durable stones available.
